Bike Radar: Hill Climb Diaries Builds Crazy Light 5.2k Super Bike

If you haven’t heard about the specialty Hill Climb races this is a perfect series for a new early fall bike addiction.

Ridiculously hard climbs lasting 2 to 10 minutes, ridden in Time Trial fashion against the clock.  Last for about 2 months beginning in September and has a nationals competition.

It makes sense then to build a super light yet super stiff, super bike.  Bike Radar contacted us and we built a new wheel for them using a new 23mm wide tubular FSE rim, Extralite hubs and Sapim’s Super Spokes…that a lot of super, but not a lot of weight.  The FSE 23T Extralite wheels set is only 880g (+/- 20g).  Bike Radar’s set was weigh by them at 887g.  Bike Radar’s final bike weight: 5.2k (12.3lbs)

This discipline of cycling is perfect for justifying that weight weenie build you know you’ve always wanted to do.

This will be a fun series to watch.  We at FSE are honored to be a part of it.
